A CW operator will recognize the heading as a salutation sent at the end of a QSO. This is my way of saying that this is the last issue of Solid Copy that I will be putting together for NKARC.

I have been a member of NKARC since 1987, the year I got my license as a Tech Plus. That year, I volunteered to help Dave, N7HTK, put out the club newsletter and I have been doing so for almost 14 of those 18 years. I started on a Kaypro2 using MSWord in DOS and a dot matrix printer. Printer a master copy and then went to Office Depot to print more than 60 copies for mailing. Today, I finish the job using MSWord 2000 on a home-built machine which is one of 4 networked in a LAN and send over 55 copies on e-mail. Never dreamed back then that I would have my own network.

It’s been a challenge and enjoyment to put together the newsletter for the club during its cycles of up and down activity. Reporting on Field Day, Hamfest, Subs on the Air, Special Events and other activities has shown me the wide spectrum of participation available to the members. Finding material to share with the club members has led me to sources I would have never found if it were not for the need. Suggestions and material from club members was greatly appreciated.

Eric Hanson, AD7EP, has agreed to be the NKARC Solid Copy editor. His e-mail address is ad7ep@arrl.com. His first issue will be January 2006 and he appreciates any suggestions and material submitted by the members. Welcome to Eric and thanks for accepting the job as newsletter editor. As for me, I will still be active with club activities and attend as many meetings as I can. I also intend to write some articles for the newsletter. Again, 73 es cul….

Bob, N7KTP

2006 Dues Coming Due

Time flies and it’s almost time to renew our memberships again. Put a check for your dues in the mail and address it to the club (Box 2268, Silverdale, WA 98383-2268) or better yet, bring it to the Christmas dinner at Mitzel’s in Poulsbo. Dues are $15/year ($12 for seniors & students).

Your pre-written check will facilitate matters at the dinner and help avoid interrupting the activities with change-making, etc. Treasurer Ron will have the club roster handy and we can just check you off once paid.

Ron, N7EM
